THE ORIGIN OF CHLOROPHYLL
By Dr
The actual beginning of the use of Chlorophyll for therapeutic purposes is unknown. In 1911, actual studies of the chemical structures of Chlorophyll were begun when it was discovered how strikingly similar Chlorophyll was to that of haemoglobin (red blood cells) in humans.
Both Chlorophyll and haemoglobin consist in part of similar atoms and the only difference between the two being that in human blood, the metallic atom or element of the haemoglobin consists of iron, while in chlorophyll this atom is magnesium. (Chlorophyll is often referred to as “blood of plant life”).
The word “Chlorophyll” comes from the Greek words, which mean “green leaf”. Chlorophyll particles are contained in Chloroplasts which are small disk-shaped bodies located in many plant cells. Plant leaves and often plant stems are green because of their Chlorophyll content.
Chlorophyll, using the energy of sunlight, chemically changes water molecules in the plant. Water is absorbed by plant from the soil. The chemical changes are the splitting apart of water molecules and hydrogen and oxygen are formed. Hydrogen combined with carbon dioxide to form glucose. Thus during photosynthesis, green plants combine carbon dioxide and water to form food and oxygen.
The Chlorophyll in general use today is extracted from Alfalfa Grass. About two and one-quarter pounds (one thousand grams) of freshly cut prime green Alfalfa, when properly processed will yield about two and one-quarter gram of chlorophyll. Production of chlorophyll calls for the processing of many tons of Alfalfa to secure a relatively small amount of this valuable material. Until some newer process for extraction of chlorophyll is invented, it will remain costly.
Chlorophyll liquid is a carefully formulated extraction requiring more than 15 technical procedures; from its crude original form to a highly purified concentrated form adaptable for use upon or within the human body. Also the removal of fats and waxes found within the minute cells of the plant; complete fracture of the membrane or covering of the millions of tiny cells containing the chlorophyll; and then among other steps which include laboratory inspection and control, further refinement and finally the finished product.
LIQUID CHLOROPYLL
Chlorophyll, the micro-crystalline green pigment found in plants and other photosynthetic organisms, is often refereed to as Nature’s Healer. It enjoys a wide range of therapeutic uses, including use in skin infection and oral hygiene. In The American Journal of Surgery 49, p.49 (1940), doctors related some 1,200 varying cases that responded positively to treatments with chlorophyll.
Now, we introduce Liquid Chlorophyll, pure, premium Liquid Chlorophyll with a touch of oil of peppermint. Refined through a series of 15 technical extraction procedures, we offer the many benefits of chlorophyll in a convenient liquid form that is easily assimilated by the body.
Inhibits bacterial growth
Liquid chlorophyll displays antiseptic potential in the treatment of anaerobic bacterial function. Anaerobic bacteria cannot live or multiply in the presence of oxygen, so they are seriously inhibited by oxygen-producing chlorophyll. Although chlorophyll does not actually kill the microbes, it does render them powerless to multiply and grow by providing the production of an unfavorable environment. (Pharmacology & Oral Therapeutics, C. V. Musby Co., St. Louis, 1956).
By inhibiting bacteria, liquid chlorophyll has a noticeable deodorizing and antiseptic effect on infected tissues and ulcerated wounds. Scientific tests indicate that new tissue cell growth is stimulated by liquid chlorophyll, odour is cleared and healing is greatly enhanced.
Improves Oral Health
Because of its astringent action, liquid chlorophyll is useful in the treatment of minor oral infection. Daily use of chlorophyll has been shown to relieve Vincent’s Angina, an extremely painful infection of the mouth, tonsils and throat.
In addition, chlorophyll helps eliminate destructive strains of bacteria from the saliva and the tissues of the mouth. According to De. Austrau W. Rapp of the Loyola University College of Dentistry, “A chlorophyll tooth cleanser…… proved to have greater ability than any other known material to lower acid content of the mouth,” and helped prevent the formation of bacterial acids known to attack the surface of teeth. These bacterial acids are a leading cause of plaque formation, which makes liquid chlorophyll an effective anti-plaque agent.
Enhances growth of acidophilus bacteria
Liquid chlorophyll is an important part of an intestinal cleanse because it enhances the growth of acidophilus, the “friendly” bacteria in the bowel. Acidophilus bacteria (Lactobacillus acidophilus or Lactobacillus bulgaris) are aerobic in nature and need oxygen to multiply and grow. Because chlorophyll is an oxygen-producing substance, its presence in the colon contributes to a healthier bowel by promoting the growth of acidophilus, thus creating a healthy, natural intestinal flora.
Deodorises the system
The anti-bacterial action of liquid chlorophyll makes it effective as a mouth surface deodoriser. Since many odours in the mouth, especially bad breadth, are generated from the gastrointestinal tract, ingestion of liquid chlorophyll eliminates the odours arising from this source.
